Letters: Educators must combat ‘fake news’

Recent news reports on the proliferation of “fake news” should be a wake-up call to all of us, especially those in education.

A Stanford University study indicates that many young people are media-illiterate and tend to believe much of what they read online and elsewhere.

That’s unacceptable. Educators – from both college and K-12 – need to be rethinking how they are preparing teachers and teaching young people to be critical thinkers and viewers.
