Letters: The bullies aren’t the dogs

Tracy Glantz

Denise Wilkinson’s Nov. 21 guest column about animal cruelty (“Will we do what it takes to protect bully breeds?”) reminded me of something I recently came across on Facebook:

“Humans Buy Me. Humans Beat Me. Humans Over Breed Me. Humans Cut Off My Ears. Humans Make Me Fight.

“And I’m the one they want to ban?

“I’m the one who gets the bad rap?

“I’m the one you fear?”

“Bully breeds” were once used as nanny dogs: People left them to guard the children while they worked in the fields.

Let’s admit who the real bully breed is: humans. These dogs need protection from bully humans.
