Letters: Disable school-zone lights during holidays
The congestion around Dreher High School can add a few minutes to my drive each morning, but I always try to obey the speed limit in school zones because they are there to protect the children.
The problem is when school isn’t in session, but the lights are still flashing. I believe the lights in front of Dreher were flashing every morning during the holiday last month. Most drivers ignored them; I have even witnessed police not slowing down when everyone knows the schools are closed.
So can someone please turn the lights off when school is not in session? Otherwise, we risk people ignoring the school zones when they really matter.
