Letters: Scott should hold forum in Columbia

US Sen Tim Scott
US Sen Tim Scott AP

We arrived at Sen. Tim Scott’s town hall meeting in Charleston before the doors opened and were given a number and a small paper for a question. We were not informed that our numbers would put us in an overflow room with small monitors and poor sound. We were not able to actively engage in the meeting.

Sen. Scott selected questions from containers to answer. Even though the sound was poor and the people who were in the room with him did not seem to have microphones, we were able to hear parts of the conversation. We heard Sen. Scott say that Donald Trump doesn’t lie. Really?

Betsy DeVos came up several times and the fact that Sen. Scott received $49,000 in campaign donations from her and her family.

Sen. Scott has refused to come to the capital city for a real town hall meeting. We need to talk to him about his very partisan positions. He needs to remember that he is one of two senators who represent our entire state, not just the Lowcountry.
