Letters: Give SCE&G a little competition

Competition results in lower rates. I think it is past time to deregulate utilities in South Carolina and quit letting SCE&G rip off its consumers. I have a friend in Connecticut who gets to choose who supplies electricity. She recently entered into a new agreement, and her rate is 5.3 cents per kilowatt hour. So why are we being ripped off to the tune of almost 14 cents per kilowatt hour?
