Letters: Will roads become McMaster disaster?
When former Gov. Nikki Haley climbed the ladder to her position in Washington and Henry McMaster became our governor, I thought raising the gas tax could become an option to repair our crumbling roads and bridges. I was disappointed to learn that he opposes that. I think it’s just a way to get votes.
The public acceptance of a gas tax increase is as positive as I have ever seen in this state, and voters should speak at the polls to support those politicians who want to move South Carolina forward with better infrastructure and safer roads.
Transportation Secretary Christy Hall is working tirelessly to show us that with adequate dollars we can improve our transportation system.
The time is now to raise the fuel tax and allow out-of-state travelers to help fund our roads.
