Letters: Corporate America drives up health costs

If Republicans are really interested in reducing the cost of health insurance, they need to look at why the cost is so high. It is not because a child with diabetes or a 60-year-old with cancer needs care. It is because corporate America has found it can make huge profits in the health-care system. Look at profits and CEO salaries in the insurance industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the for-profit hospital industry and others.

Lawmakers need to look around the world and see that all industrialized countries are able to provide basic health care for all citizens. Enough of Washington pretending to make health care available and affordable. Time to get serious.
