Letters: Train whistles make Columbia safe
I hear several trains during the day and night at my “Columbia” home in Woodcreek Farms, and I find it comforting to know they are sounding an alert; better to have an alert at crossings than a horrible accident should someone not be alert and get slammed.
Contrary to the complaints from Dick Harpootlian and City Councilman Howard Duvall (“Columbia considers becom- ing a quiet zone,” May 1), the sound of trains does not make us a “two-bit, rural, redneck town.” Let’s work on more serious issues for our city.
