Letters: Trumpcare will hurt those with preexisting conditions

AP

My daughter was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor at age 12. She suffered greatly from headaches and was impaired through her teens. Right before college, she had a shunt inserted and underwent proton radiation to shrink the tumor.

She will turn 26 this fall and will have to get her own insurance. She is not lazy, but she has not been able to find a full-time job. I am afraid she will not be able to afford insurance.

During her teens, my company went out of business, and we had to get individual insurance. Because of her preexisting condition, we had to get her coverage from a high-risk pool. It was as expensive as the coverage for the rest of the family combined. U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, my representative, has voted for Trumpcare, which could take us back to that system. I will bet he is one who never bothered to read it. This man and Republicans like him need to go.
