Letters: What good do Columbia taxes do us?
I wonder if the Columbia City Council will vote to approve the latest tax-increase proposal between innings at our $35 million debt-riddled baseball stadium that our children will be paying off over the next 300 years (“Columbia taxes will probably go up to give police, firefighters yearly pay raises,” May 17).
More likely the city’s $100,000-a-year public relations director is dying to book the highly touted Bull Street morgue barbecue restaurant as the perfect venue to announce City Council’s latest skewering of taxpayers.
Watch for more exciting news when you get your next city advisory warning you to boil your drinking water.
