The Columbia Children’s Theatre is looking for a permanent home. Why not at the Bull Street project? There are several buildings near the ballpark that could be turned into a theater with rehearsal, workshop and classroom spaces. Consider how such a partnership could help the development as well as the community.

Performances and classes bring in thousands of children, parents and their friends and families throughout the year. Many schools bus their children in to see the shows. All these people would buy ice cream, coffee, clothes, baseball tickets, etc. The Bull Street project would really benefit from all those folks coming into their space, and the children of Columbia would benefit from all that the Children’s Theatre has to offer: professional productions, student performances, summer camps, year-round classes that range from singing to Shakespeare, from acting to musical theater.

Columbia Children’s Theatre is a gem of Columbia and deserves a gem of a home.

I urge the city and the developers to consider the long-term benefits of including this extremely popular, well-established and -run entertainment venue in their plans.
