The conversations between the former FBI chief and the president about investigations of Russian meddling in our affairs should remind us of the dangers we face. Our so-called leaders are so separated by politics that they cannot come together to figure out who is responsible for this foreign infiltration.

We’ve known since the 1950s that the Russians are propaganda masters. But we have put our confidence in the gun and the two-party system while our adversaries mastered the science of mind control.

Our leaders must concentrate on the threat of electronic, physical and financial attacks by hackers and terrorists. Our priority should be to protect our institutions. It is the job of every citizen to protect our liberty; this must be done by educating ourselves and making decisions based on solid facts.

The best policy is honesty and fairness based on facts. One of our main tools against our adversaries is the truth.
