Letters: Dreamers deserve our support

I appreciate the bipartisan effort by U.S. Sens. Lindsey Graham and Dick Durbin in proposing the Dream Act of 2017.

This humane and merciful legislation would allow an estimated 750,000 young immigrants who have lived in the United States since childhood to earn permanent residence and a path to citizenship.

Under current law, their lives are filled with daily stress because they might face deportation back to a country that they scarcely can recall, if at all.

It is imperative that we South Carolinians show these young people that we have their backs by our support of this critical legislative initiative.
