Letters: Are TV, movies making us sick?

When my family and I went to see “Beauty and the Beast,” the sound nearly blasted us out of our seats. I put my fingers in my ears and heard it clearly. The sound and the violent animation assaulted the senses; the scenes changed every two to three seconds. As the movie progressed, I found it difficult to stay in my seat without fidgeting; and this lasted into the evening after we returned home.

My children, born in the 1970s, were part of the first generation of children raised with television. It was during their generation that attention deficit disorder was first diagnosed.

Over the past three years, I have switched to Roku TV and the Acorn channel, a British channel with shows that are not such assaults on the senses. The scenes change more slowly, and the action is not as violent. When will American producers realize what they are doing to Americans? Or is it their plan to make us mindless addicts of violence and mayhem? Maybe they are actually planning the breakdown of society.
