Bond is more like a license to kill
The Aug. 9 State reported that “a man was arrested far carrying a machete, hunting for someone to kill” (“He was walking down a Columbia road with a machete, out on bond for attempted murder).
This individual already had been convicted of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, armed robbery, second-degree burglary, assault and battery with intent to kill and first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
This individual was out on bond for a pending attempted-murder charge. The only thing missing is a conviction for murder. But rest assured, he will have the opportunity to punch that ticket too, since he’s out again on a $465 bond. Cheap price to pay for a chance to kill someone.
