Stop celebrating slavery defenders

When people are oppressed and topple their government, you will always see the masses destroy all monuments, statues or anything else that glorify their oppressors. You can go back before biblical times to see this.

When we and our allies defeated Hitler and the most evil oppressors who had ever lived, there was no suggestion that the Hitler signs, monuments and statues would be left standing to honor these evil men, their heritage and their culture. Merely suggesting that would have been an insult to all the millions of innocent men, women and children who lost their lives during World War II.

We must remember that slavery provokes the same feelings for African-Americans, and frankly, it should for anyone. Slaves were killed, maimed, raped and tortured. They were kidnapped from their loved ones and homes to be sold strictly for the purpose of forced brutal labor for the profit of others.

There should be no statues, monuments or flags displayed honoring these military leaders who were beholden to slavery.

There’s a place to honor your dead. It is called a grave site.
