Amnesty for illegals hurts others

The current hue and cry for giving amnesty and citizenship to those who are illegally in this country ignores the fact that those who followed the rules and applied for citizenship are being punished to reward the illegals.

How will giving legal status to those illegally here affect the prospect of admission of those who have patiently waited in line to become citizens?

Should those who obey the laws of our country have their opportunity to become citizens diminished and replaced by illegals? How will fairness be achieved? Any good answers?
