NFL players wrong on national anthem, President Trump

AP

The NFL player protests have nothing to do with our First Amendment right to free speech. How many of us while getting paid by our employer can protest political policies on company time?

I don’t condone how President Trump expressed his opinions. I also do not condone the disrespect for the president and his office in the many tweets from prominent sport figures. It is all too prevalent in our politics and society in general: If someone says something we dislike, we should double down, make the situation worse.

The networks promote this behavior. They focus on the 50 millionaires on the sideline rather than the 80,000 people showing the proper respect for our flag and the many who have fought for our freedoms. It is impossible to sit during the national anthem and say you respect the many who have died for our country. You just can’t have it both ways.
