Soda City Market is missing one vital element
Thanks to Columbia for the wonderful summertime Saturday Main Street event that is the Soda City Market.
Thanks also to Mast General Store for the courtesy of the use of its restrooms for the hundreds of people who visit Soda City Market — the sole “public facilities” available, as far as I have been able to discern.
This begs the question of why the city has not provided toilet facilities for all of the people who are visiting and spending money in Columbia at what is essentially a weekly public event, lasting several hours, at which food and beverages are provided.
One is given to wonder, in fact, if there might not be some health-code violation involved. It is, at the very least, a deuced inconvenience.
While I must leave porta-potty law to the experts, I can only hope that some relief, literally and figuratively, may be forthcoming for the Soda City Marketeers before too much longer.
Finally I would add that at next year’s Soda City Market Oktoberfest, several more beer and German food vendors will be needed to accommodate the celebrants, who this year were required to stand in long lines and suffered the exhaustion of certain Teutonic comestibles. An Oompah Band would be a nice touch as well.
