Graham needs to remember who his constituents are
It’s no surprise that social media have begun to play a large role in politics. Both elected officials and their constituents engage each other on a regular basis.
I was delighted when Facebook recently added a feature that allows constituents to add a badge identifying themselves to their representatives as just that: constituents.
Last year, our junior U.S. senator, Tim Scott, complained of receiving telephone calls from people he feared were from outside South Carolina, so kudos to Sen. Scott for allowing his constituents to utilize this feature on social media. Constituents are easily identified on his page.
On the other hand, our senior U.S. senator, Lindsey Graham, seems to have figured out a way to circumvent this useful tool. This makes it difficult to distinguish his constituents from those who are not.
Considering Mr. Graham’s propensity to play to the national stage, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that he may be confused as to who it is he is working for.
