Addiction isn’t a disease

jmiller@mcclatchy.com

I do not agree with Dr. Pam Imm’s claim that addiction is a disease (“Stigmatizing language makes recovery difficult,” Dec. 11). Disease is a condition that invades one’s body, with signs and symptoms of a sickness not welcomed by the individual. Addiction is a choice made by the person who chose to use drugs.

However, I am grateful for drug treatment centers to help turn around teens’ lives.
