Sunday letters: Why don’t people use turn signals?
I wish automobile dealers would sell cars in South Carolina with basic safety devices. It appears that cars here are not equipped with turn signals; no one uses them. If they did, our accident rates would decrease materially.
I see automobiles with other state licenses whose drivers (1) signal before they make a lane change, (2) signal that they will leave the interstate and (3) signal when they come to a two or four-way intersection, in order to let other drivers what their intentions are.
We need an app for the cellphones or something, to alert drivers when the use of the turn signals is required and to automatically turn on the signal. That would keep other drivers from wondering — what are they going to do now?
