Dominion-SCE&G deal still costs ratepayers too much
My daughter and granddaughter are paying a tad more than $400 per month over a 12 month period for their electricity. Since 18 percent of their bill was due to the Base Load Review Act, that amounts to $72 monthly and $864 in one year.
Now Dominion wants to give customers up to $1,000 and reduce their monthly bills by 5 percentage points. A 5 point reduction would result in a $20 monthly reduction or $240 annually, but would still result in paying 13 percent or $52 monthly and $624 annually and several thousand dollars over a 20-year period, if the law remains in force.
Surely our Legislature will not sell us out again by refusing to abolish this law. Stockholders, not customers, should bear the brunt of this nuclear failure.
