Thursday letters: We must wake up before it’s too late

We need to roll up our sleeves and fight for America’s future. As the roads of life get shorter and I approach 75 years on Earth, there are three major concerns that often keep me awake:

1. The many people who deny that the planet is getting warmer every few years and humans are responsible for this.

2. The Citizens United ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that prohibits restrictions on political spending and allows the very wealthy to buy the best government for their agenda. The Lord only knows why the 1-percenters need more power and money.

3. Right-wing media.

I salute The State for being down the middle politically, but the vast and powerful right-wing media totally slant the news and espouse the views of their taskmasters, the oligarchy of billionaires that employs them.

Please, Palmetto State citizens and all Americans, wake up and smell the coffee.
