Thursday letters: Pay employees to reveal scams

I was appalled to read about the latest phone scam perpetrated by people posing as the IRS. Plus we’re tired of endless calls with fake caller ID numbers. Most of the time our home phone rings, it’s one of these callers.

My solution takes advantage of those poor souls being paid to make those calls. Pass whistle-blower legislation that rewards those low-level employees for sharing information that leads to the convictions of their supervisors and bosses. Then, instead of a few bucks an hour to harass us, these snitches can score big by putting the real criminals behind bars, leaving us to peacefully sit down to a quiet dinner.
