Tuesday letters: Carson a conservative who can broaden GOP

Dr. Benjamin Carson’s supporters have engineered the only successful conservative grass roots presidential draft since the Barry Goldwater effort in 1964. Dr. Carson is a straight-talking, brilliant brain surgeon of high character who loves this country and is willing to do what is necessary to save it.

Many Republicans fail to recognize that the Reagan coalition is no longer able to win a national election. In order to defeat the Democrats, we have to stay true to conservative principles while broadening the base of the Republican Party. Several candidates can do one or the other, but only Dr. Carson can do both.

Dr. Carson is courageous; he stood up to President Obama on national television. He remains principled on important conservative issues.

Dr. Carson’s rags-to-riches story of achievement and philanthropy fueled by education embodies what every native-born American and immigrant wants for himself and his children. Carson’s unifying tone rejects cultural divisiveness in favor of healing.

Career politicians are either unwilling or unable to bring this country back to a sane and safe place for all citizens. We need someone who cares more for our country than pandering for votes.

We have failed at our one and only sacred obligation — to leave our children and grandchildren an America at least as free as the one in which we were born. If you want to restore the republic and leave a free America to your grandchildren, then join us in a great movement to elect Dr. Carson president at 2016committee.org.
