Boycott NFL until justice is done
I see the racist NFL has begun its preseason games. Are we supposed to forget about the police killing unarmed black people? Not on your life.
I for one will not view or attend any games until Colin Kaepernick gets a job and something concrete is done to the murdering police officers. The public should boycott the entire season until justice is done. There can not be football in good faith until the killers are put in jail. The players should not participate at all.
I know it is all about the money, but if there is no justice, there should never be any peace. I am an old black man, and I know that in these United States black lives do not matter.

‘The State’ is way too liberal
I once thought McClatchy was a fairly moderate, at least somewhat objective, news organization, but several recent articles have forced me to rethink that opinion.
First, your multi-page articles about the “death” of our American churches were nothing more than a barely veiled effort to convince what’s left of legitimate Christians to change with the rest of the Christians in name only. This would allow the liberal left to take control of what remains of our actual Bible-preaching pulpits. You know, where the truth is actually spoken about why Christ came, died and rose again.
The other thing was Robert Ariail’s cartoon picturing President Trump beside Hitler, Mussolini and Mao. It seems to me that our illustrious Fourth Estate has a thin skin. The vast majority of our news media, as well as our schools (from elementary to college) seem to be controlled by liberals and have slanted the news to favor liberals for generations. Now comes a president who is unfamiliar with political tact and speaks like the common man, and our liberal press screams bias from the White House.
The poor, put-upon media are finally being called out for something they’ve been guilty of for decades. There is no question that President Trump is rough around the edges and is hardly a political smoothie, but the office of president deserves the same respect that you afforded Barack Obama the eight years he led this nation down the tubes.

Tell us more about Dominion
All the talk about the merger of Dominion Energy and SCANA has been about the monetary benefits to the customers, in the form of cash back and some reduction in bills.
The failed nuclear reactors were managed abominably. How about showing us the business value of the merger, and evidence of the competence of Dominion’s executives?

The State publishes a cross section of the letters we receive from South Carolinians in order to provide a forum for our community and also to allow our community to get a good look at itself, for good or bad. The letters represent the views of the letter writers, not necessarily of The State.
