Monday letters: Good news was a welcome change
Ordinarily I don’t read my daily paper expecting to see any good news, but on April 30 I was pleasantly surprised. The article about Lake Carolina Elementary’s Tal Thompson was heart-warming. The way he feels about and teaches his fourth-grade students is amazing, and I certainly understand his being one of the four finalists in this year’s Top Teacher Search put on by the syndicated TV show “LIVE with Kelly and Michael.”
And then there was Butler E. Brewton’s letter (“S.C. could teach nation how to deal with police violence”), in which he pointed out the two recent, headline-grabbing stories of police violence here in our state and how quickly, judicially and peacefully both were handled. I agree with Mr. Brewton’s statement that this state’s actions against racism and unfair behavior should send a message to other states.
Wonderful to read two uplifting items in my morning paper. Keep ’em coming.
