Monday letters: Make Fort Jackson National Cemetery easier to find
I have not seen any signs on I-20 or I-77 for the Fort Jackson National Cemetery. With nearly 4,000 veterans and their family members interred there already, many people will be trying to find the cemetery. We are blessed to have this treasure in the Midlands, and we should make its location obvious to folks approaching Columbia on the interstates.
The S.C. Department of Transportation has indicated to me it does not want to put up signs on the interstates. I hope some persons of influence will intercede in this situation because it is the right thing to do. At a minimum, I would like to see signs at Exit 80 (Clemson Road) on I-20 and Exit 15 (Percival Road) on I-77. We should be proud of our veterans and their sacrifice, and fix this.
