Monday letters: Dukes, Honor Flight do great job
I’d like to thank Bill Dukes, chairman of Honor Flight of S.C. for giving us the opportunity to experience the most rewarding and emotion-filled day in my recent memory. His team, led by Ron Saxton, was one of the best organized and most efficient volunteer organizations I have ever witnessed in action. They readily accepted the awesome responsibility for the well-being of more than 100 aging veterans, with a multitude of health issues and physical challenges.
In spite of these potential obstacles, the efficiency and smoothness of each phase of the operation was impressive. Each event was conducted safely and on time, without anyone feeling rushed or left out. As I understand it, Honor Flight’s primary mission is honoring our veterans in a very meaningful way. In my humble opinion, the mission goal was met and substantially exceeded by any measure.
I’d also like express our sincere appreciation to the Honor Flight volunteers for all of their efforts. There should be no question about our community’s love and support for our veterans and active military.
