Monday letters: Thanks for honor of Honor Flight
Being a World War II veteran, I took part in the May 13 Honor Flight from Columbia to Washington. All aspects of the trip were well thought out and planned. The organizers did a terrific job honoring us veterans.
The single best part of the experience was the return home to Columbia airport. I was humbled by the magnitude of our reception. Present was a band, Junior ROTC unit, Knights of Columbus, children and people of all ages showing their gratitude. The outpouring of the community was nothing short of amazing.
For most of us parading through this group of people, this will be our last hurrah. I would like to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. You are what makes this country great.
