Monday letters: Gay-marriage advocates won’t tolerate dissent
I was disappointed but not surprised to read of Clemson Coach Dabo Swinney’s decision to not attend the Palmetto Family Council’s dinner on Tuesday after he was criticized because the group opposes gay marriage (“Swinney will not attend event,” May 28).
Once again, the gay-marriage crowd has shown its true colors: Supporters aim to harass and punish not only all who oppose them, but all who would fraternize with those who oppose them.
They should have been satisfied with Swinney’s many pro-gay statements. To make them in South Carolina athletic circles took some courage.
They want nothing less from the rest of us than our unconditional surrender. As long as my generation is alive and active, they will not get it. I am praying that they never get it.
