Wednesday letters: Please end the Lexington Blowfish fireworks

I have nothing against baseball and welcome the Blowfish to our neighborhood in Lexington. However, fireworks are disruptive. The Lexington County animal shelter is near the baseball stadium, and I can only imagine how terrified the dogs are.

My own dog is afraid of fireworks and has to be kept inside during a fireworks event; one of our neighbors has horses. We heard fireworks as late as 11:30 p.m., and I’m sure they must have awakened babies and others who were trying to sleep.

I hope whoever is responsible for bringing fireworks to our neighborhood will think about how disruptive they are.

There is no reason for fireworks to be a part of baseball other than attracting larger crowds. I am asking that the fireworks on Ball Park Road at the new Blowfish stadium be eliminated immediately.
