Thursday letters: SC State must increase diversity

I hope S.C. State University leaders will use the opportunities afforded them by the Legislature and the accrediting body to move forward and put the past behind them. Students today want and deserve a quality education that includes high academic standards and diversity in students and faculty.

The days of segregation are over, and S.C. State needs to be integrated. Historically black universities have done their part in the past of educating African-Americans in need, but now they need to move forward and provide quality education programs for all in need. It won’t be easy, but its survival is at stake.
