Monday letters: Confederate flag belongs in a museum
I applaud my governor, supported by some very powerful voices, for her decisive call for the removal of the Confederate flag from the grounds of our State House. And she did so for a great reason: the unity of all citizens in our state at a very sad time.
From the onset of the flag debate in 1994, my view has always been that the rightful place for the flag is in a museum. There, all citizens are free to visit it for their own reason.
As a proud citizen of South Carolina with only one vote, I will be vigilant of the position taken by my representative and senator, for or against whom I can cast a vote at the next election, and I hope that every citizen of this great state will do the same.
As well stated by The State’s headline: “The time has come.”
