Monday letters: Emanuel members inspire us all

The families of the victims and the members of Emanuel A.M.E. Church were the true heroes of last month’s tragedy. Their leadership in expressing forgiveness was an inspiration. Never have I seen more love and graciousness come from any group, and I know I share the sentiments of many when I express profound thanks to them.

None of that lessens their grief, but they are examples of one of my favorite quotes: “Even when you can’t control the situation, you can control yourself. Act with grace and dignity.” They have done just that.
