Monday letters: After Emanuel: Heal wounds with helping hands
Tribal conflicts exist around the world. Racial conflicts exist all over the country.
When African-Americans are killed within walking distance of our home, we must ask what can be done to help in a small way: Mentor a child who has been dealt a bad deck? Give money to a cause that shows compassion or might reduce conflict? Volunteer time at the Shaw Center (a relatively unknown shelter for children on Mary Street in Charleston)?
The Emanuel Church disaster demands our attention and action.
