Tuesday letters: Sometimes roads do get paved
Six years ago I started on a quest to get Glenwood Drive in Warrenville repaved. I wrote to Gov. Mark Sanford explaining that the road was an accident waiting to take place. It was so bad in certain areas that you had to drive in the oncoming lane to avoid being swallowed up by potholes. For months I reported the problem to the Transportation Department. I was told that there wasn’t any money to repave the road, so I let the issue drop.
Then a little more than a year ago it got so ridiculously bad that I contacted Sen. Tom Young. After numerous back-and-fourths emails, all of the damaged road was repaved; the crew did a fabulous job, even detailing the areas around the drainage sewers and removing the dirt that used to clog the system.
Thanks to all for doing such a great job, and a special thanks to Sen. Young for making it all happen.
