Monday letters: Statues help us remember good and bad

Thanks be to God, to our governor and state leaders, the Confederate flag will be on display in the State Museum where it always belonged.

Now, let us not remove or deface the statues on the State House grounds. They are part of our history — the good, the bad and the ugly.

The statue of Ben Tillman reminds us of everything we abhor about slavery then, and racism now. Removing the statues does not change history. They help us remember.
