Thursday letters: Graham not fit to be president
The idea of Sen. Lindsey Graham running for president may seem plausible to residents of South Carolina, because most of them are born, live and die within a 50-mile radius and have no idea that the rest of the country sees us differently.
Everyone outside the state knows if you drive through the Palmetto State you must set your clock back 250 years, because South Carolina is still fighting the Civil War. S.C. voters kept a senior congressman in office 20 years after his demise just to have bragging rights for the longest-serving senator.
Still, there is a way to get a South Carolinian in the White House. Members of the S.C. delegation need to get their Republican cohorts to stop trying to end Obamacare just long enough to create a new position of White House jester. Lindsey would be perfect.
It’s the only way there will ever be an elected South Carolinian in the White House.
