Friday letters: Lindsey Graham brave to acknowledge climate change

On a recent “Meet the Press,” Sen. Lindsey Graham admitted that humanity’s actions are partially to blame for the gut-wrenching rise in global temperatures over the past century.

This is in stark contrast to some of his fellow Republicans, who are unwilling to admit either that climate change is real or that man plays a direct role.

I do not agree with Sen. Graham on many issues, but I applaud him for his courage. He will undoubtedly be targeted for his views on climate change. I hope he stands tall and faces these challengers with progressive legislation that weans the United States off of fossil fuels that damage the health and safety of citizens and the environment.

We are completely dependent upon the health of our environment, and the Republican candidates desperately need a moderate voice willing to admit this, and then act upon it. We, the people, desperately need one as well.
