Letters: Don’t expect answers from, about SCE&G

The State

Thanks to Larry Knight for pointing out how SCE&G is overcharging residential customers compared to large industrial customers. And paying lip service to solar power. And selling sewer line insurance, which seems like it would amount to forcing us to subsidize an insurance company. And requiring us to pay for nuclear reactors that will provide a more costly megawatt than natural gas plants other utilities are constructing.

SCE&G might be the only utility that is actually building a nuclear reactor, much less two.

Mr. Knight’s question to the Public Service Commission is whether it will look into these and other problems he documented in this paper (“We need answers before rate hike,” July 16). To me, a mere customer, the question appears valid, and the documentation believable. I appreciate Mr. Knight for his efforts — however futile they probably are.

You can’t beat city hall — or a monopoly and its lobbying power.
