Monday letters: Purse inspection unwelcome at theater

Am I the only one who is appalled to be told upon purchasing a senior movie ticket that all bags and purses need to be inspected before entering the show? I’m not exactly sure what the idea was behind this. To stop me from bringing in snacks, which is a no no? Or perhaps someone thought my senior ladies and myself were carrying concealed weapons?

If the concern was about weapons, why didn’t the men have to lift their shirts up and turn around? Perhaps a metal detector should be installed. What a world.
