Monday letters: SC State House a treasure we should cherish
Columbia has a national and state treasure: the South Carolina State House. This Greek Revival building was designated a national historic landmark in 1976.
When I have visited Columbia and walked the grounds of the State House, I always have been in awe of the Strom Thurmond monument, the Palmetto Regiment monument of the American Mexican war and the monument to Gov. Wade Hampton.
Please take your children and families to the State House for tours, which are available from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; you can schedule a tour at (803) 734-2430.
