Letters: Don’t raise Columbia City Council salary; cut mayor’s
Columbia City Council doesn’t deserve a raise (“Pay raises, retirement benefits considered,” Aug. 21). As a matter of fact, the mayor’s $75,000 salary is at a ridiculous level. It should be cut by about half.
Enough is enough. The call for a raise is inexcusable until the mayor decides to take care of the citizens’ needs and stop building monuments to his ego along with those on the council who have supported his expensive and unnecessary proposals.
