Letters: Obama is hunting ducks in Iran

Critics of the deal Barack Obama and John Kerry struck with Iran are ignorant and/or shortsighted.

Better than 60 percent of Iran's population is younger than 35. The old revolutionaries who overthrew the Shah back at the end of the Carter administration are creaking around on their last legs. The young people of Iran are educated and generally hip to the ways of the modern world. They see the embargos and the bickering of their ancient leaders as hindrances to their participation in the world.

Obama sees that striking this deal with Iran now gives the whole world an opportunity for an entirely new set of circumstances vis a vis Iran a decade or two in the future. So good shooting, Mr. Obama and Mr. Kerry. And good luck.
