Letters: Road from NC shows how backwards SC is

I recently traveled from North Carolina on U.S. 221, a 21st century four-lane road that, upon entering South Carolina, immediately changed into a 20th century, well-used two-lane road.

What a contrast and impression that makes, especially to visitors, highlighting our apathetic, 20th century thinking. The majority of our citizens are eager to bite the bullet and bring our roads up to standard now.

We did it once, and we can do it again. Come on, South Carolina, we are better than this.
