Letters: Kim Davis meets ‘Muslim president’ debate
With all the talk about the “Should a Muslim be president” question, it’s worth considering how an elected government employee is doing her job in Kentucky. A county clerk asserts that her personal Christian beliefs are superior to the laws she was elected and sworn to uphold.
If some judge seeking to be remembered as more than a footnote in the pages of jurisprudence decides that a person of any religion is entitled to make official decisions based on personal religious beliefs, what is to prevent any Muslim, Christian or Jew in any government job from putting a religious imprimatur above the Constitution or any of our laws?
