Letters:Forget American exceptionalism; we should just try to get along

It is a myth that America is the preeminent world power and that we lose nothing by ignoring nations that oppose our ideology. Leadership by bullying no longer bears fruit. America’s recent attempts to impose democracy in Iran, Iraq, Central America and Afghanistan is a flawed strategy that has destabilized the world and engineered generations around the world to oppose America. America’s treatment of its own is evidence enough that it does not practice what it preaches.

The new world order necessitates that America partner and collaborate. American exceptionalism only plays at home. We should not subject another generation of youth to the harsh realities of war and the burden of paying for it.
