Letters: Is writer selective in parade objections?
Since Robert W. Degenhart apparently does not like parades (“Feed hungry rather than funding parade,” Sept. 27), let’s remove public funding for all parades and the related costs (police, parade cleanup, etc.). This includes parades related to the Carolina Carillon, Veteran’s Day and any others held in Columbia and elsewhere in the Midlands.
Think of how much money could then be donated to the needy. I look forward to Mr. Degenhart backing me on getting rid of all parades — not just the one he dislikes due to his prejudice.
